This, That, These, Those


Some students show doubts about these demonstrative pronouns, so here’s an explanation:

We use this/ that/ these/ those with a noun (this hotel, that girl, etc.) or without a noun (this, that, etc.):


 E.g.




This hotel is expensive but it’s very nice.
This is a nice hotel, but it’s expensive.

 




“Who’s that girl?”
“Who’s that?”









Do you like these shoes?
Which shoes do you like most? These or those?
