Last week my MYP 2 students who are in intermediate level were asked to compose a text considering the following issue: “What makes good teaching (or teachers)”.
The results were awesome. Therefore, I decided dedicating a post here to expose their production (of the ones who wanted, of course). Students may be posting their essays here throughout the following weeks.
I guess it’s a nice way to assess our students and to see how they understand the practice of those who are mostly inclined to help them develop their minds: the teachers!
Enjoy!
The cycle that works
ResponderExcluirWhen we talk about teaching we have to consider not only the teachers and not only the students, but both. Nowadays it is very common to find people talking about what they think that could be done to get a better teaching.
These people are teachers, students and also the students’ parents. The opinions are very different from each other. Some parents think only about their children’s future, sometimes even judging the way teachers work and the consequences of it. Teachers do not only work in the way they want, because there is always someone in a higher position that tells them what to do.
If we think about it, we see that it is all connected. Teachers need students’ cooperation while they need to respect the teachers, and their parents need to encourage them. Students have to participate actively in classes, showing their opinions and sharing information. There is no rule anymore, like: teachers speak, students stay quiet, just listening. Teacher can learn a lot with students too. We just cannot forget about the parents, because they are essential in this cycle. If children have a good education at home it will be reflected in their attitudes not only at school, but everywhere.

There are two sides that I believe making a good teaching, the first one is the pupils interested in learning and have consciousness that what the teacher is trying to repass is very important. The other side is the teacher. A great teacher interacts with the pupils (physically, and mentally); a great teacher gives affection to the pupils, makes them understand what emotion is; a great teacher teaches not only text book materials but also the truth that's happening outside; and the most important is be didicated e enjoy their job.
ResponderExcluirActually there are so many problems that happen in the school, I think that what makes it happen is the education lost. Parents think that schools are a place where they letting the children to have time to work. Childs and teenages don't know what the knowledge's importance.
Teaching will be good when everybody knows that knowledge is good for all the life; and when teacher know they aren't there only to get money in the end of month, but they must know that they have a profession so that makes somebody have something for all the life.
